Job summary

GPC - Global Professional Consultants in Ireland is seeking a Graduate Site Engineer to join a leading civil contractor on a major Midlands public realm project. You will gain hands-on experience across roads, drainage, public lighting, cycle lanes, and roundabouts.

You will assist with setting out using GPS and Total Station, coordinate site operations, and support quality, health & safety, and progress reporting.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Graduate or early-career engineer aiming to develop in site engineering.
  • Willingness to develop setting-out experience with GPS/Total Station.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setting out using GPS and Total Station equipment (site).
  • Support delivery of roads, footpaths, cycle lanes, drainage, ducting, kerbs, and public realm works.
  • Assist with road construction and development of two new roundabouts.
  • Coordinate daily site operations with site management and subcontractors.
  • Ensure works align with drawings, specs and programme.
  • Assist with as-built surveys and maintain site documentation.
  • Monitor quality and ensure compliance with project specs.
  • Assist with health & safety inspections and site audits.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, design teams, utilities and local authorities.
  • Support commercial and project management with quantities and progress reporting.

Job Description

A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking a Graduate Site Engineer to join their team on a major public realm project in the Midlands. The project includes road realignment, new road construction, drainage, ducting, kerbs, roundabouts, public lighting, traffic signals, cycle lanes, and wider public realm works. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated graduate engineer to join a well-established contractor and gain hands-on experience across a range of civil infrastructure works.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with setting out using GPS and Total Station equipment
  • Support the delivery of roads, footpaths, cycle lanes, drainage, ducting, kerbs, and public realm works
  • Assist with road construction and the development of two new roundabouts
  • Coordinate daily site operations alongside site management and subcontractors
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and project programme
  • Assist with as-built surveys and maintain accurate site documentation
  • Monitor quality standards and ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Assist with health & safety inspections and site audits
  • Liaise with subcontractors, design teams, utility providers, and local authority representatives
  • Support the commercial and project management teams with quantities and progress reporting
Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Graduate or early-career engineer looking to develop a career in site engineering
  • Previous site experience would be an advantage
  • Interest in civil infrastructure, roads, drainage, utilities, or public realm projects
  • Willingness to develop setting out experience using GPS and Total Station
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings and construction principles
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Full driving licence
