Job summary

Solas IT Recruitment seeks a hands-on Front End Developer in Galway to join a growing Product and Engineering team. You will work on user-facing features with React and TypeScript, and leverage UX, UI design, and design systems.

You'll collaborate in Agile sprints with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to translate requirements into production-ready code, build reusable components, and champion accessibility and responsive design.

Qualifications

• Experience with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.

Front End Developer – React / UX

Location: Galway – Hybrid

My client are seeking a hands-on Front End Developer to join a growing Product and Engineering team in Galway. This role is ideal for someone with strong React and TypeScript development experience who also has a solid understanding of UX, UI design and design systems.

You will work within an Agile team, taking user-facing features from initial concepts, research and wireframes through to polished, production-ready front-end code.

The Role

• Design and build intuitive, user-centred experiences across web and mobile applications.
• Develop high-quality front-end features using React, JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Work closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, Software Engineers and stakeholders to translate user requirements into effective solutions.
• Create user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, mock-ups and high-fidelity UI designs.
• Build and maintain reusable front-end components.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of design systems and component libraries.
• Ensure designs are accurately translated into production-ready applications.
• Champion accessibility, usability, responsive design and inclusive design best practices.
• Conduct user research and usability testing and use customer feedback to improve the user experience.
• Use AI-assisted development and design tools to improve productivity and accelerate delivery.
• Participate throughout the Agile software development lifecycle.
• Contribute to continuous improvements across front-end engineering and UX practices.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years' experience in Front-End Development, UX Engineering, Product Design or a similar technical role.
• Strong commercial development experience with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience designing and building modern, production-ready web applications.
• Strong understanding of UX principles, interaction design, information architecture and visual design.
• Experience creating wireframes, user flows, prototypes and high-fidelity designs using Figma or similar tools.
• Experience developing and working with component-based design systems and reusable UI libraries.
• Good understanding of responsive web development and modern UI frameworks.
• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
• Experience working within cross-functional Agile teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A portfolio demonstrating both UX/UI design and front-end implementation.

Desirable Experience

• Experience developing SaaS products.
• React Native or mobile-first development/design experience.
• Material Design or custom enterprise design systems.
• Azure DevOps, Git and CI/CD.
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Figma AI or similar development/design tools.
