Job summary

Inland Fisheries Ireland in Limerick is seeking a Fisheries Officer to protect, manage and conserve Ireland's inland fisheries and sea angling resources. The role involves front-line enforcement and field work across inland and coastal waters.

You will patrol, enforce bye-laws, contribute to habitat improvement schemes, and help develop access and infrastructure for fisheries and angling. The job is outdoors, with weekend and unsocial hours as part of a 39-hour week.

Qualifications

• Leaving Certificate or recognised equivalent.
• Full Category B driving licence valid in Ireland.
• No convictions under the Irish Fisheries Legislation.
• Eligible to work in the State.
• Fluent English – both in spoken and written English.
• Good knowledge of MS Office.
• Reside within 60 minutes drive of base location.
• Competent on water (sea, lakes and rivers).
• Demonstrates passion for promoting, protecting and conserving natural resources.

Responsibilities

• Patrol lakes, rivers, sea, coast and estuaries to check for illegal fishing.
• Detect and report pollution, take samples and gather information.
• Inspect licence holders for commercial salmon & sea trout and recreational anglers.
• Enforce regulations and bye-laws as required.
• Assist with habitat improvement schemes and angling infrastructure.
• Provide guidance and advice to local anglers and the public.
