Job summary

Inland Fisheries Ireland in Dublin is seeking a Fisheries Officer to implement and enforce the Fisheries Acts, Water Pollution Acts and related provisions. The role covers conservation, protection and development of inland and sea angling resources.

The position is predominantly outdoors; duties include patrolling, inspection, habitat improvement work, stakeholder engagement and advising the public. You should be comfortable working outside in all weather and be prepared for non-standard hours.

Qualifications

• Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
• Full Category B driving licence valid in Ireland.
• Good knowledge of MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Patrol lakes, rivers, sea, coast and estuaries to check for illegal fishing.
• Detect and report pollution, take samples and gather information.
• Inspect licence holders for salmon & sea trout; inspect recreational anglers for licence/permit.
• Issue Fixed Penalty Notices if appropriate.
• Attend proceedings and provide reports for legal advisers.
