Job summary

Inland Fisheries Ireland is seeking a Fisheries Officer for our Dundalk team. The role focuses on front-line enforcement of Fisheries Acts, Water Pollution Acts, and related directives, delivering conservation and development services both inland and at sea.

The position is outdoors, requires weekend/evening work, and involves collaboration with inspectors and external agencies. Garda Vetting is required.

Qualifications

• Leaving Certificate or recognised equivalent.
• Full Category B driving licence valid in Ireland.
• No convictions under the Irish Fisheries Legislation.
• Eligible to work in the State.
• Fluent English – spoken and written.
• Good knowledge of MS Office.
• Reside within 60 mins drive of base location.
• Competent in water activities (on/near water).
• Demonstrates passion for protecting natural resources.

Responsibilities

• Patrol lakes, rivers, coast and estuaries to detect illegal fishing.
• Inspect licences and recreational anglers for compliance.
• Enforce bye-laws and regulations; issue penalties as needed.
• Assist with habitat improvement and angling infrastructure.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and provide public guidance.
• Operate and maintain boats and equipment; travel as required.
