OBW Technologies is seeking a motivated and technically capable Fire Systems Maintenance Technician to join our onsite engineering team supporting a major semiconductor manufacturing campus in Leixlip.
This role is primarily focused on the planned and corrective maintenance of Fire Detection and Alarm Systems across a busy manufacturing environment. You will help maintain the reliability, compliance and performance of critical life safety infrastructure while working closely with customer engineering teams, contractors, OEM partners and OBW colleagues. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to support fire system upgrades, small projects and commissioning activities as part of their ongoing development.
Key Responsibilities
Planned Preventive Maintenance & Sustaining Support
- Perform planned preventive maintenance activities on fire detection and life safety systems.
- Complete routine testing of detectors, modules, interfaces and field devices.
- Conduct scheduled fire alarm testing in accordance with site procedures.
- Carry out system health checks, compliance inspections and detector sensitivity checks.
- Verify the correct operation of detection and notification equipment.
- Identify degradation trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Participate in emergency response and alarm investigation activities when required.
- Complete work in line with service levels, customer expectations and site requirements.
Corrective Maintenance & Fault Finding
- Diagnose faults across fire detection, alarm and life safety systems.
- Investigate nuisance alarms and recurring system issues.
- Troubleshoot panel, network, device and communication faults.
- Identify root causes, implement effective corrective actions and restore systems to full operational condition.
- Analyse event logs and system data to support technical investigations.
- Escalate complex issues to OEMs and engineering specialists where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities focused on system reliability and performance.
Compliance Testing, Documentation & Reporting
- Complete maintenance reports, test records, service documentation and system histories.
- Maintain accurate, traceable and audit-ready engineering records.
- Prepare RAMS and support permit-to-work activities.
- Support customer, regulatory and internal audits.
- Ensure work is completed in line with customer standards, OEM requirements and relevant industry regulations.
- Maintain documentation within customer and OBW management systems.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Operate in full compliance with all site safety procedures.
- Support permit-to-work and LOTO processes where required.
- Participate in risk assessments and method statement reviews.
- Report hazards, incidents and improvement opportunities by raising good catches.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality and technical compliance.
Site Stakeholder Support
- Build strong working relationships with customer engineering and facilities teams.
- Attend relevant coordination meetings and technical reviews.
- Liaise professionally with contractors, OEMs and site stakeholders.
- Support customer investigations and compliance activities.
- Provide a professional onsite presence representing OBW Technologies.
Additional Responsibilities (Training Provided)
Project and commissioning work is a supporting element of the position and provides an opportunity to broaden your technical experience.
- Support fire system upgrades and small projects.
- Assist with commissioning and acceptance testing of new installations.
- Participate in system expansions, modifications and migrations.
- Assist with device verification, loop testing and integrated system testing.
- Support cause and effect testing, witness testing, FAT and SAT activities where applicable.
- Assist with installation verification, project quality inspections, handover documentation and punch-list closure.
- Develop commissioning and project delivery skills through practical experience and training.
What We’re Looking For
- Fire alarm maintenance experience, including planned maintenance and breakdown response.
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting ability.
- Knowledge of I.S. 3218 or other relevant fire detection and alarm standards.
- A relevant technical qualification, such as Electrical Trade, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Fire Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail, safety awareness, communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain accurate documentation.
