Job summary

FRS Recruitment is seeking a Finance Manager for a Cork-based distribution business. The role combines financial reporting, control and business partnering, reporting to the MD and working with the UK finance team.

You will monitor performance, identify profitability opportunities and provide financial insight to support growth. Four days onsite per week for the initial period, with potential review.

Qualifications

• A recognised professional accounting qualification with at least five years' experience in a similar finance role.
• Strong experience in financial reporting, management accounts, budgeting and forecasting.
• Commercially minded, with a strong understanding of costing, margins and profitability.
• Proven ability to interpret financial data and translate it into practical recommendations for management.
• Experience supporting senior stakeholders with commercial and strategic decisions.
• Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capability.
• Previous people management experience.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across different functions and finance teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, balance sheet and cash flow statements.
• Maintain effective financial policies, procedures and internal controls, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and accounting standards.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis to monitor business performance against targets.
• Prepare and analyse sales and margin forecasts, identifying trends and opportunities to improve profitability.
• Work closely with senior management on business strategy, cost savings and cost avoidance.
• Analyse sales, customer and market profitability to support commercial decision making.
• Partner with the sales team to ensure customer agreements are accurately costed and recorded.
• Oversee customer rebates and commercial agreements, ensuring they are financially sound.
• Provide financial analysis and return on investment calculations to support business cases.
• Coordinate the annual audit and liaise with external auditors.
• Oversee financial systems administration and provide financial information to support the wider business.
• Manage and develop a team of two Credit Controllers.
• Ensure appropriate due diligence is completed when assessing customer credit terms and facilities.
