Job summary

Brightwater Recruitment in Monaghan is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead the day-to-day finance operations, oversee a dedicated team and report to the CFO.

You will drive monthly management accounts, cash-flow planning, budgeting and financial analysis, while maintaining strong controls and compliance. The role offers hybrid working and a senior leadership profile within a large, established organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop the finance team of eight, providing guidance, mentoring and support.
  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the finance function.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis and commentary to senior management.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and identify key variances and trends.
  • Ensure robust financial controls and accounting procedures are maintained across the business.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations and general ledger activities.
  • Ensure balance sheet accounts are accurately maintained and reconciled.
  • Manage the preparation of annual financial statements and liaise with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, taxation requirements and internal policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and reporting.
  • Work closely with operational and senior management teams to support commercial and strategic decisions.
  • Provide financial insight and guidance on business performance and future planning.
  • Lead finance-related projects and process improvement initiatives as required.

Job description

Our client is a large, well-established organisation based in Monaghan with a significant operation and a strong presence within its sector. As the business continues to develop, they are looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the finance function.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take on a senior position within the organisation, working closely with senior management and providing leadership to an established finance team.

Reporting to the CFO, the Finance Manager will have overall responsibility for the finance function and will lead a team of seven finance professionals.

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, strong financial controls and efficient processes across the business.

You will play a key role in supporting commercial decision-making, providing meaningful financial analysis and ensuring the finance team continues to deliver a high-quality service to the wider organisation.

Key Responsibilities

About You
  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced accountant or finance professional who has previously operated at Finance Manager level or in a similar senior finance position.
  • You will have strong technical accounting knowledge combined with excellent commercial awareness and the ability to manage and develop a team.
  • A professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
  • At least 4 years’ experience within a finance/accounting environment in industry.
  • Previous experience managing or supervising a finance team.
  • Strong knowledge of management accounts, financial reporting and month-end processes.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • The ability to work independently while also providing effective leadership to the wider finance team.
  • Strong commercial understanding and the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insights.
