FK International represents a leading Irish construction business seeking a Finance Director to lead the finance function and shape strategic and commercial direction. The role provides financial leadership to support sustainable growth and effective risk management.

Based in Dublin West, the role partners the SLT on budgeting, forecasting, contract reviews, WIP analysis and treasury management, driving controls and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification with a minimum of 7 years' PQE.
• Relevant experience within construction, contracting or project-based environments.
• Strong financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting capabilities.
• Good understanding of project accounting, WIP and working capital management.
• Excellent commercial acumen and stakeholder influence.

Finance Director Construction Position Description A leading Irish construction business is seeking to appoint a highly capable and commercially focused Finance Director to lead its finance function. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Finance Director will play an important role in shaping the strategic and commercial direction of the business, providing financial leadership to support sustainable growth, profitability and effective risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic financial leadership to support growth, profitability, risk management and long-term business planning. Lead the preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts and performance packs, providing clear analysis of financial and operational performance. Provide the SLT with commercially focused financial insights to support strategic and operational decision-making. Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting and scenario-modelling processes. Partner with the wider business on contract and commercial reviews, including supporting key commercial negotiations. Oversee project WIP analysis, monitoring and reporting, ensuring strong financial control and visibility across projects. Manage treasury, cash flow and working capital, including responsibility for key banking and funding relationships. Maintain a strong framework for financial controls, risk management and governance. Drive process improvement and systems enhancements to improve the quality, efficiency and scalability of the finance function. Lead, develop and grow a small finance team, building capability in line with the continued development of the business.

Candidate Background

The successful candidate will ideally have the following background: A professional accounting qualification with a minimum of 7 years' PQE and strong technical accounting skills. Relevant experience within construction, contracting or another project-based environment. Strong financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting capabilities. A good understanding of project accounting, WIP and working capital management. Excellent commercial acumen, with the ability to operate as a trusted business partner to senior leadership. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
