- Dublin | Full-time | Field & Remote Support
The Role:
Our client is a growing provider of electric vehicle charging solutions and is looking to hire an experienced EV Operations Engineer to join their technical operations team.
This is a hands-on support role combining remote troubleshooting, customer support, charger monitoring and occasional field-based technical intervention.
You will be responsible for supporting customers and live EV charging infrastructure, resolving technical issues quickly and professionally, and working closely with engineering, suppliers and field-service teams to ensure a high level of network availability and customer satisfaction.
Required:
- 3+ years’ experience in technical operations preferably within EV charging, energy, IoT, telecoms or a related technical environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Experience working with ticketing or CRM platforms.
- Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, IT or another technical discipline.
- Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
- Ability to take ownership of an issue and manage it through to resolution.
- Comfortable working independently and remaining calm when dealing with urgent technical incidents.
- Valid clean driving licence and willingness to travel to customer or project locations when required.
- Flexibility to participate in an on-call rotation if required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first- and second-line technical support for EV charging equipment and associated software platforms.
- Diagnose and resolve issues relating to charger functionality, connectivity, configuration and user access.
- Respond to technical support requests via phone, email and ticketing systems in line with agreed SLAs.
- Monitor live charging infrastructure for performance, uptime and system alerts.
- Guide customers through remote troubleshooting and corrective procedures.
- Escalate more complex technical issues to engineering, product, supplier or field-service teams where required.
- Track supplier support tickets, warranty issues and equipment returns through to resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of support cases, technical fixes and known issues.
- Assist with onboarding new customers and provide basic guidance on charger and platform usage.
- Configure and support AC EV charging equipment.
- Attend customer sites where required to investigate, repair or resolve charger issues.
- Support stock and inventory management for technical equipment and replacement units.
- Share customer and technical feedback with internal operations and product teams to help improve service quality.
The role combines remote support with practical field activity, so you should be equally comfortable troubleshooting technical issues from a desk and attending site when a problem cannot be resolved remotely.
- Previous hands-on experience with EV chargers or field servicing of electrical equipment.
- Familiarity with EV charging protocols and standards such as OCPP, CCS or CHAdeMO.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, APIs or IoT protocols.
- Strong general PC skills and experience with Microsoft 365.
The Opportunity:
This is a strong opportunity for someone with a background in technical support, electrical systems, field service or EV infrastructure who wants to work in a fast-growing sector.
You’ll have the opportunity to work across both the technical and customer-facing sides of EV charging operations, supporting live infrastructure and helping ensure a consistently reliable customer experience.
