MCS Group is helping a Dublin-based startup find an Engineering Manager to build and grow the Platform/DevOps function. This role combines hands-on technical work with leadership to shape the team and engineering standards.

You'll lead Platform & DevOps, improve cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and security while mentoring engineers and guiding the technical direction.

Job description

I'm working with an exciting start-up software company that is entering its next phase of growth and is looking to appoint an Engineering Manager to build and grow its DevOps/Platform function.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who still enjoys being hands-on technically while taking ownership of a growing Platform team. Rather than stepping away from engineering, you'll continue solving complex technical problems while helping shape the team's technical direction.

You’ll join a business with an established product and customer base, where the focus is now on building scalable engineering foundations to support future growth.

Hybrid – Dublin City Centre – 4 days per week on site

The role…

You'll lead the Platform & DevOps function, working closely with engineering teams to improve cloud infrastructure, developer experience, security and platform reliability.

This is expected to be a highly hands‑on role (around 80‑90% technical initially), making it ideal for someone who enjoys writing code, solving infrastructure challenges and mentoring engineers.

About you…

You’ll likely come from a Software Engineering, Platform Engineering or DevOps background and enjoy operating across both infrastructure and application development.

You’ll have experience with:

• Modern distributed applications
• Building scalable cloud platforms
• Coaching and mentoring engineers

Previous Engineering Manager experience is welcomed, but I’m equally keen to speak with experienced Senior or Lead Engineers who are ready to step into their first management position.
