Job summary

Mastercard Services is seeking an accomplished Manager, Software Engineering to lead a BE&O team that builds data‑driven analytics and cloud‑native applications. You will guide engineers across the stack, partnerships with product, and delivery across regions to drive high‑impact outcomes.

You will mentor engineers, shape architecture, and ensure robust, scalable software delivery in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. This role emphasizes leadership and hands‑on technical excellence.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in Agile environments.
• 3+ years leading or managing software engineers with coaching and performance management.
• Strong technical leadership with architecture discussions, design reviews, and delivery of complex software initiatives.
• Full stack engineering background with microservices, RESTful APIs, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, security, and performance.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) including Kubernetes and modern deployment practices is a plus.
• Experience with data-intensive applications and analytics platforms; Databricks, Spark, or PySpark a plus.
• Strong collaboration and communication across Product, Engineering, Data Engineering, QA, Architecture, Operations, and Security.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field; advanced degree a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and develop a high performing team of software engineers through hiring, onboarding, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and succession planning.
• Foster an inclusive and collaborative engineering culture centered on ownership, accountability, continuous learning, innovation, and engineering excellence.
• Lead the delivery of complex software initiatives from planning through release with clear priorities and high quality outcomes.
• Partner with Product and business stakeholders to translate priorities into technical strategy and milestones.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, system design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on execution when needed.
• Guide design and development of scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions using Java, microservices, APIs, cloud platforms, and data technologies.
• Establish and drive engineering best practices across the team including software architecture, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and operational readiness.
• Review designs to ensure alignment with long-term maintainability and platform architecture.
• Identify blockers, manage risks, and enable teams to deliver across competing priorities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across regions and time zones to align priorities and delivery.
