Job summary

Nuvo Healthcare Recruitment seeks a senior Electrical / Building Services Engineer for a major healthcare capital project in Dublin. The role covers construction, commissioning, and handover, providing technical leadership and assurance across multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 8+ qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant post-graduate experience in electrical/building services engineering.
• Experience across construction, commissioning and handover.
• Strong knowledge of Irish/European electrical standards.
• Working knowledge of NHS HTMs and HBNs.
• Experience with multidisciplinary design teams, contractors and specialists.
• Excellent communication, technical reporting and stakeholder-management skills.

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday

The Opportunity

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a senior Electrical / Building Services Engineer to join a major healthcare capital development programme.

The project is currently at construction stage, with the design substantially complete. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and assurance throughout construction, commissioning, equipping, soft landings and operational readiness.

This is a senior client-side role, ideal for an experienced engineer who has delivered major and technically complex construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior electrical engineering oversight and technical assurance.
• Review contractor technical submissions, drawings, proposals and commissioning documentation.
• Monitor electrical installations, quality, testing and compliance.
• Identify and resolve technical, construction and interface issues.
• Provide technical input into change control and risk management.
• Support testing, commissioning and integrated systems testing.
• Ensure electrical systems are safe, reliable, resilient and fit for long-term operation.
• Support the integration of medical and specialist equipment.
• Assist with O&M documentation, asset information, training and handover.
• Work closely with designers, contractors, hospital teams and senior stakeholders.
• QQI Level 8 or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant post-graduate experience in electrical/building services engineering.
• Experience across construction, commissioning and handover.
• Strong knowledge of relevant Irish and European electrical standards.
• Working knowledge of NHS HTMs and HBNs relevant to healthcare environments.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary design teams, contractors and specialist subcontractors.
• Excellent communication, technical reporting and stakeholder-management skills.

About You

You will be a technically credible and pragmatic engineer who can confidently challenge contractors and consultants while maintaining a collaborative approach.

The role is not design-production focused. You will use your expertise to assure the successful delivery of the approved electrical design through construction, commissioning and transition into operation.

Strong problem-solving, organisation, communication and stakeholder-management skills are essential.

Access to appropriate transport is required.
