Mason Alexander seeks an Energy Trader to join the All-Island Trading Team in Dublin. This hands-on role focuses on maximizing the value of a thermal generation portfolio across Irish and GB markets.

The role involves executing gas, power and carbon strategies, optimising assets, and managing positions in fast-paced energy markets. A strong analytical mindset and advanced Excel is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous energy trading experience.
• Strong knowledge of I-SEM.
• Experience across gas and electricity markets.
• Understanding of Irish/GB commodity markets, including gas, power and carbon.
• Strong commercial and analytical capability.
• Excellent Excel skills; Python, SQL, VBA or PLEXOS advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Execute gas, power and carbon trading strategies across I-SEM and associated markets.
• Optimise thermal generation assets and maximise plant P&L.
• Manage ex-ante and balancing market positions.
• Trade within-day gas and power markets.
• Manage gas capacity and carbon positions.
• Develop and implement short-term trading strategies.
• Analyse market dynamics, competitor behaviour and trading performance.
• Work closely with generation, commercial and wider business teams.
• Contribute to trading projects and analytical initiatives.
