Job summary

The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) is Ireland's independent regulator for energy and water. We seek a Director for the Energy Safety Division with extensive national/international experience in energy/utility regulation to lead safety policy and regulatory functions.

The role reports to the CRU Senior Leadership Team, directing a multi-disciplinary team, shaping strategic priorities, and engaging with stakeholders to ensure energy safety is delivered to the highest standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum NFQ Level 8 degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Significant (≥9 years) experience in the energy/utility sector or regulatory/public body.
  • Significant senior leadership experience (≥5 years) in energy/utilities/regulatory sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Shaping and delivering the CRU’s strategic priorities for the Division and organisation.
  • Providing leadership, direction and mentoring to a multi-disciplinary team in the Division.
  • Managing Heads of Functions, Managers and Inspectors within the Division.
  • Advising the Commission on energy safety-related functions and regulatory frameworks.
  • Overseeing safety frameworks (Gas/ Petroleum) and compliance activities (audits, inspections).
  • Leading engagement with industry groups and national/international bodies.
  • Driving cross-functional collaboration within the CRU and supporting senior engagements.
