Job summary

EirGrid is seeking a Head of Health, Safety and Environment to lead the HSE function and drive a strategic safety program. You will shape the HSE strategy for a national utility, aligning it with business objectives and fostering a strong safety culture.

You will oversee ISO 45001/14001 compliance, manage budgets, lead audits, and engage with regulators, ensuring best practices across the organisation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Health & Safety leadership, preferably in energy, utilities or infrastructure.
• Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience implementing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 integrated HSE systems.
• Exceptional leadership and communication abilities with influencing skills.
• Strategic thinker with track record in compliance and safety culture transformation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the HSE Department and report to the People Leadership team.
• Develop and implement a group-wide HSE strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Oversee the Integrated HSE Management System and ensure ISO 45001/14001 compliance.
• Manage resources and budgets to achieve HSE goals; coordinate audits and reporting.
• Engage with regulators and stakeholders; drive compliance and best practice.
