Job summary

PE Global Recruitment in Ireland seeks an Energy Engineer to deliver one-stop retrofit services for domestic properties, including BER analysis, deep retrofit design, and heat pumps. Travel across Ireland with a hybrid work setup combining site, office and remote work.

Essential is a degree in energy engineering or related field, plus strong communication, teamwork, and a valid driving licence. You will design bespoke retrofit packages and oversee tendering and project delivery toward 2030

Qualifications

  • Degree (Level 7) in Energy Engineering or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of building products, construction details and codes.
  • Ability to understand technical aspects of building energy performance.
  • Knowledge of heat pumps, heating systems, solar PV and fabric upgrades.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Full driving license and own transport.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver One-Stop-Shop energy retrofit service to private homeowners and others.
  • Design and implement deep retrofit solutions with renewables including heat pumps.
  • Carry out home surveys, BER analysis, and assess building fabric and heating systems.
  • Work with customers to identify retrofit needs and deliver suitable packages.
  • Issue works to tender to approved contractors and monitor progress.
  • Conduct final inspections and ensure customer handover and tutorials.

Job description

PE Global Recruitment are currently working with a leading semi-state organisation to recruit Energy Engineers the join the team in Cork.This is a full time permanent role. The successful candidate will be covering an area of approx. 1 – 1.5 hours drive from their own home base.

Their purpose is guiding Irish homeowners through the home energy retrofit process to deliver on Ireland’s climate action targets. Through their One-Stop-Shop they offer professional services through design and oversight of whole house energy efficiency solutions.

To support their growth ambitions, they are currently recruiting Energy Engineers across Ireland. Their team of Energy Engineers deliver an excellent service for their customers, through the design and implementation of whole-house deep retrofit solutions.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for someone looking to progress their career in the growth field of energy engineering and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Delivering a One-Stop-Shop energy retrofitting service to private home-owners, housing providers and wider stakeholders in the delivery of 2030 targets for domestic retrofit
  2. Design and implementation of deep retrofit whole house solutions with renewable energy upgrades, including heat pumps
  3. Carrying out home surveys, including full BER analysis and examination of building fabric and heating system
  4. Working with customers (mainly homeowners) to understand their energy needs, identifying and delivering appropriate retrofit solutions
  5. Recommending fully-bespoke and costed packages of retrofit measures to bring homes to the company standard
  6. Issuing works to tender to approved contractors
  7. Carrying out checks on works in progress; managing customer expectations and monitoring delivery
  8. Conducting final inspections and snagging prior to final independent BER assessment
  9. Handover on retrofit project completion, including customer tutorials demonstrating how to operate and maintain new energy systems
Candidate Requirements
Essential
  • Degree (Level 7) in Energy Engineering or related discipline (Mech, Elec, Civil, Arch, Build Services, Environment etc.)
  • Knowledge of building products, construction details, relevant building codes, regulations, and quality standards
  • Ability to understand technical aspects of building energy performance and construction generally
  • Knowledge in particular areas such as heat pumps, heating systems, solar PV, and fabric upgrades
  • Able to prioritise workloads and work effectively to deadlines
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels in client organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an integral part of a team, as well as individually
  • Full Driver’s License, and own transport
Desirable
  • Experience in energy efficient design of buildings or building services
  • Knowledge of current building regulations, NSAI SR54, and / or SEAI Technical Standards for residential retrofit
  • Good Understanding & User of DEAP3 & DEAP4 BER software
  • Knowledge & understanding of Construction Health & Safety Legislation
  • Experience in AutoCAD/REVIT or other similar tools
Location

Travel will be a feature of this role. This role will be a blend of site-based, office-based and remote working.
