Job summary

Cpl Resources is seeking a Project Engineer (Energy & Sustainability) for a hybrid role in Ireland. You will lead delivery of energy and utility projects across industrial sectors, working directly with clients to design, implement, and optimise mechanical and electrical systems.

The role calls for 2–4 years of engineering experience, strong analytical skills, adept communication, and a proactive approach to safety, quality, and environmental standards, with travel to sites as required.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Process, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2–4 years' engineering experience in industrial, manufacturing, utilities, energy, or sustainability environments.
  • Experience supporting delivery of technical engineering projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
  • Interest in pursuing professional accreditation or Chartered Engineer status.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering project work packages from concept and design through to installation and commissioning.
  • Carry out technical assessments of industrial energy systems, including steam, compressed air, refrigeration, HVAC, and CHP systems.
  • Support the design and optimisation of mechanical and electrical systems using engineering software and design tools.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, commissioning plans, and safety documentation.
  • Participate in client meetings, site assessments, energy audits, and project progress reviews.
  • Assist with contractor management, procurement activities, and supplier engagement.
  • Monitor project performance and analyse operational data to validate energy and efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with health and safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Location: Ireland (Hybrid) Employment Type: Full-time | Permanent

The Opportunity

Our client is a leading engineering and sustainability consultancy delivering energy efficiency, utility optimisation, and decarbonisation projects across the industrial and manufacturing sectors. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Project Engineer to join their expanding team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer to take ownership of project delivery, work directly with industrial clients, and contribute to the development of innovative energy successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the design, implementation, and optimisation of energy and utility infrastructure projects while helping clients achieve their sustainability, operational, and cost-reduction objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Profile
  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Process, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 2-4 years' engineering experience, ideally within industrial, manufacturing, utilities, energy, or sustainability-focused environments.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of technical engineering projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar engineering design software.
  • Knowledge of energy management systems, ISO 50001, energy auditing, or decarbonisation programmes would be advantageous.
  • A full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
  • An interest in pursuing professional accreditation or Chartered Engineer status.
