Job summary

Kerry Parents and Friends Association is seeking a part-time Support Worker in Listowel to empower adults with intellectual disabilities. The role focuses on person-centred care, goal setting, and promoting independence, in collaboration with families and external services.

You will document carefully, support daily activities, and contribute to care planning, with a strong emphasis on dignity, respect and autonomy in a community setting.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or equivalent with 1 year experience with adults with intellectual disability
• Understanding of HIQA regulations and Disability Act 2005
• GDPR compliance awareness and accurate record-keeping

Responsibilities

• Plan and set meaningful goals addressing personal, social, recreational, independent living, community integration, training and supported employment needs.
• Guide and support individuals to realise aspirations and achieve greater independence.
• Advocate for inclusion and participation in the community.
• Maintain accurate records and complete reports meeting required standards.
• Provide physical, emotional, psychological and healthcare support with dignity and autonomy.
• Facilitate life skills development through activities and hobbies.
• Work with healthcare professionals to create responsive care plans.
