Job summary

Stripe is seeking an Employment Counsel to advise our People team and business partners on employment law across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. You will proactively manage employment‑related risks and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure compliance.

You will draft and negotiate employment agreements, monitor regulatory developments, and support international matters outside EMEA when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements: 4+ years of specialist, post‑qualification employment law experience at a law firm or in‑house legal department.
• Qualified to practice law in Ireland or England and Wales.
• Ability to analyse employment law matters of varying complexity, exercise sound judgment, and make well‑reasoned decisions amid ambiguity and incomplete information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders while maintaining discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
• Strong organisational and project‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple long‑ and short‑term workstreams, collaborate across teams, and support international employment law matters outside EMEA when needed.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the People team to provide subject‑matter expertise on employment issues, including recruiting, hiring, performance management, compensation and benefits, leaves of absence, people data privacy, internal investigations, working time, and HR best practices.
• Proactively review employment policies to support legal compliance and consistency with best practices.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support and maintain employment compliance.
• Draft and negotiate employment‑related agreements, including offer letters, contractor agreements, and vendor agreements.
• Handle pre‑litigation and litigation matters.
• Monitor developments in employment, AI, and data protection law and advise on developments that may affect Stripe.
