Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Architect to lead data centre design strategy for deployments across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. You will collaborate with global engineering teams to establish masterplans, determine building typology and map planning/permitting processes in multiple EMEA jurisdictions.

You will partner with Architects, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil & Structural engineers and cross-functional teams to align with regional requirements, deliver buildable and permittable

Qualifications

• Professional Engineering or Architectural License required.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for relevant region.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite.
• Experience in site masterplanning and multi-discipline coordination.
• Experience navigating planning/permitting processes in at least one European jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term infrastructure strategy for data centre deployments across EMEA, ensuring alignment with stakeholders, global standards and regional requirements.
• Lead technical evaluations of new market opportunities, including site feasibility, power availability, climate analysis, and regulatory considerations.
• Serve as the strategic interface between regional delivery teams, design engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders (construction, real estate & capacity planning).
• Provide senior technical counsel to leadership on capital investment decisions, technology selection, and infrastructure roadmap prioritisation.
• Identify and mitigate risks in early-stage programs by applying engineering and architectural judgement across disciplines.
• Influence global design standards and templates by feeding back EMEA-specific lessons learned and regional best practices.
• Work with Planning/Permitting Team to improve permitting and planning framework across EMEA jurisdictions, mapping regulatory pathways per region.
• Continue to improve delivery quality, communicating complex spatial and regulatory information to leadership and partner teams.
