Job summary

Instrotec Ltd, a leading Irish Electrical & Instrumentation contractor, is seeking an experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join its expanding team on major Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, and Industrial projects across Ireland and Europe.

You will oversee contract documentation, cost control, valuations, and sub-contractor accounts, working with Project Managers and Clients to protect profitability and ensure timely monthly reporting.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Higher Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5+ years' experience in an Electrical Quantity Surveyor role within the construction or M&E sector.
  • Experience on large-scale projects such as Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor, Industrial, or Commercial developments.

Responsibilities

  • Full evaluation and interpretation of project contract documentation.
  • Planning and examining supplier and sub-contractor enquiries.
  • Providing precise, competitive and cost-effective valuations in a timely manner.
  • Preparation and distributing of contract documents to our supply chain.
  • Examining change in our scope of work and completion of pricing variations.
  • Preparing and agreeing Monthly progress claims.
  • Maintenance of accurate records of claims, certificates, and retentions.
  • Commercial and contractual control of sub-contractor accounts.
  • Preparation and delivery of monthly commercial project reports.
  • Provide information and analysis of issues & risks as required by Management.
  • Management and forecasting of project cash flow.

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team, and work across our projects.

Role Overview

The Electrical QS will be responsible for the commercial management of electrical packages of projects from commencement through to final account. Working closely with the Project Manager, Site Management Team, Client, and Subcontractors, the Electrical QS ensures the project is delivered within budget while maximising profitability and maintaining strong commercial controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial and contractual control of sub-contractor accounts.
  • Preparation and delivery of monthly commercial project reports
  • Provide Information and analysis of issues & risks as required by Management.
  • Management and forecasting of project cash flow
  • All other duties associated with this role.
Essential Requirements:
  • Degree or Higher Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5+ years' experience in an Electrical Quantity Surveyor role within the construction or M&E sector.
  • Experience working on large-scale projects such as Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor, Industrial, or Commercial developments. A comprehensive understanding of work contracts.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methodologies, and commercial management principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of contract forms (NEC, FIDIC, JCT, or similar).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with cost management and commercial reporting software is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a fast-paced site environment.
