Job summary

Johnson Controls Ireland HVAC seeks a Lead Electrical Design Specialist for the European Chiller Engineering Team. You will design electrical schematics, wiring layouts, and control panels, collaborating with mechanical engineers to deliver fully integrated chiller solutions.

You will oversee documentation, BOMs, and compliance with European standards, while mentoring junior designers and guiding manufacturing changes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical design, drafting, or product development within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience with Creo Parametric and Creo Schematics.
• Experience creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and harness routing designs.
• Knowledge of electrical components, controls, sensors, relays, VFDs, and industrial electrical systems.
• Experience with PDM systems, preferably Windchill.
• Experience working with SAP or other ERP/MRP systems to manage BOMs and materials.
• Confident communication with engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Comfortable challenging assumptions and driving solutions.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
• Genuine desire to continuously learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain electrical designs using Creo Parametric, Creo Schematics, and related 3D design tools.
• Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness routings, and detailed electrical documentation for chiller products.
• Design and support electrical control panels, sheet metal enclosures, and associated electrical assemblies.
• Collaborate with Mechanical Designers to develop integrated product designs and ensure system compatibility.
• Produce point-to-point schematics, device wiring details, and installation documentation.
• Create and maintain BOMs and engineering documentation for manufacturing and service teams.
• Ensure designs comply with European regulations and company standards.
• Support engineering changes by investigating requests and implementing improvements.
• Coordinate with manufacturing facilities, suppliers, and stakeholders for manufacturability.
• Review products and propose enhancements for quality and cost efficiency.
• Use Windchill PDM and SAP to manage documentation and changes.
• Support prototype builds, production launches, and troubleshooting as needed.
• Review and verify electrical design work of team members.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior designers.
