Job summary

Jobgether partners seeks a Software Engineer (Edge – Networking & Fleet) in Ireland to build scalable edge networking and fleet infrastructure for a large residential device network powering web data extraction. You will work on a scheduling platform, proxy services, and device management across Windows, Android, and Linux, within a remote-first team.

You will design control planes, improve observability, define SLOs, and participate in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

At least 5 years of professional Rust experience, including production services end to end.
Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts: consistency, partitions, backpressure, idempotency.
Deep networking knowledge covering TCP, TLS, HTTP, handshakes, and packet-level behavior.
Experience with gRPC and long-lived connections across NAT/unreliable networks.
Experience building or operating forward proxies/proxy infrastructure.
Understanding of IP reputation, session stickiness, proxy pool health.
Production operations experience: SLOs, observability, incident response, on-call.
Cross-platform Rust development targeting Windows, Linux, Android; FFI boundaries.
Strong written communication; collaboration in distributed remote-first team.
Curiosity and analytical thinking to investigate load behavior.

Responsibilities

Scale the existing data plane by evolving the fetch scheduler to handle 50–100 million requests/day.
Build Fleet Manager control plane with adapters, inventory, health, and rollout control.
Develop provider integrations for onboarding additional device sources.
Own and improve the CONNECT proxy gateway and edge session management.
Engineer secure networking using mTLS, gRPC, and streaming over unreliable connections.
Address NAT, CGN, bandwidth accounting, and resource contention issues.
Define and maintain SLOs for availability, success, and latency.
Build observability and metrics for peer availability and provider performance.
Implement safe blue/green deployments and rollouts for services.
Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident post-mortems.
Produce technical design docs for scheduling, fleet management, and failover.
