Job summary

MCS Group is partnering with an ambitious Irish technology company to recruit an Edge Software & Platform Engineer. The role focuses on building edge computing infrastructure and deployment automation, working across Linux, networking, cloud infrastructure and observability.

You will own the new area of development within a hands-on engineering team, influencing technical decisions in a startup-like environment.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Linux operating systems and infrastructure.
• Good Python development and scripting experience.
• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS or Azure.
• Solid understanding of networking, connectivity and infrastructure security.
• Experience deploying, configuring and maintaining software services.
• Familiarity with Bash, shell scripting and automation.
• Awareness of monitoring/observability tools such as Prometheus or Grafana.

Responsibilities

• Building, configuring and maintaining Linux-based infrastructure for edge computing environments.
• Developing and automating deployment processes using Python, Terraform and associated tooling.
• Working with existing software services to support their deployment across distributed environments.
• Designing and configuring secure networking, connectivity and infrastructure services.
• Ensuring systems are reliable, secure and suitable for use within enterprise customer environments.
• Implementing monitoring, logging and observability to support ongoing performance and reliability.
• Working closely with cloud and software engineers on technical design and infrastructure decisions.
• Taking ownership of technical challenges from initial development through to deployment.
