Job summary

Dow Jones is seeking an experienced engineering leader to build and head a small, exceptional AI-native engineering organisation. You will produce outcomes through coaching leaders, shaping architecture, and driving incidents and prototyping with Claude when it yields maximum leverage.

You will lead approximately 18 engineers across Tech, QA Automation, Infrastructure and Principal Engineer, focusing on fast feedback, low ego, and high trust to scale software delivery and customer value.

Qualifications

• Proven engineering leadership in a high-growth SaaS or scale-up.
• Hands-on Claude / Claude Code experience essential.
• Ability to lead from the front: code review, architecture critique and incident involvement.
• Experience building and deploying AI-enabled software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop 5-7 senior technical leaders and create growth plans.
• Design and improve a lightweight engineering operating model with fast decisions and small batches.
• Codify an AI operating system with shared context, reusable skills, guardrails and governance.
• Translate customer pain points into engineering outcomes in partnership with Product.
• Provide technical leadership across architecture, reliability, security, and cloud costs.
• Maintain high standards of engineering discipline, delivery reliability and team health.
