Job summary

GemPool Recruitment is partnering with a leading technology-driven organisation to hire an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a growing engineering team across Dublin, Belfast, or Malta.

The role focuses on cloud-native platform engineering, automating deployments, and ensuring security and compliance within a highly regulated environment. You will work closely with engineering teams to drive cloud modernisation and scalability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a senior DevOps or Platform Engineering role.
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience, AWS EKS.
• Experience with AWS ECS environments.
• Broad knowledge of AWS compute, databases, and security.
• Experience with Terraform or other IaC tools.
• Observability and monitoring with Datadog.
• Scripting with Python and/or Bash.
• In-depth container security practices.
• Experience in regulated or security-focused environments.
• Excellent communication and prioritisation skills.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Platform/DevOps Engineer with strong Kubernetes and AWS experience to help drive cloud modernisation, platform engineering initiatives, and infrastructure scalability within a highly secure and regulated environment.

The Role

You will work closely with engineering and infrastructure teams to design, implement, and optimise cloud-native platforms while improving automation, observability, and deployment processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Kubernetes (EKS) platforms on AWS
• Support and optimise CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Harness.io
• Implement and manage observability tooling across the platform using Datadog
• Enhance and support AWS cloud infrastructure environments
• Review, optimise, and document deployment and operational processes
• Ensure change management processes align with security and compliance standards
• Collaborate with development teams to enable self-service platform capabilities

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years’ experience in a senior DevOps or Platform Engineering role
• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, particularly AWS EKS
• Experience working with AWS ECS environments
• Strong knowledge of AWS services across compute, databases, and security
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools, ideally Datadog
• Strong scripting skills using Python and/or Bash
• Good understanding of container security best practices
• Experience working within regulated or security-focused environments
• Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Nice to Have

• Experience with GitOps workflows and tooling
• Exposure to service mesh technologies such as Istio
• Understanding of platform engineering concepts
• Linux or database administration experience
• Experience working within financial services environments
