Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong Google Cloud Platform skills to join our engineering team in Ireland. You will help design, build and support cloud infrastructure, improve automation and enable development teams to deliver secure, scalable applications.

You will collaborate with software engineers and platform teams to drive cloud adoption, implement modern DevOps practices and improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience in DevOps or Cloud Engineering.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and automation.
• Experience supporting production environments in GCP.
• Knowledge of containerisation and Kubernetes best practices.
• Familiarity with networking, security and IAM in cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain cloud infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar tools.
• Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines for software delivery.
• Manage and support Kubernetes environments, including GKE.
• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting to improve reliability.
• Automate provisioning, deployments and operational processes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve scalability, resilience and security.
• Support incident management, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Contribute to cloud governance and platform improvements.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation as required.

DevOps Engineer (Google Cloud Platform)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with a strong background in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join a growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to help design, build and support cloud infrastructure, improve automation and enable development teams to deliver secure, scalable and highly available applications.

Working closely with software engineers, platform teams and stakeholders, you'll play a key role in driving cloud adoption, improving operational efficiency and implementing modern DevOps practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain cloud infrastructure within Google Cloud Platform.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or similar tooling.
• Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines to support software delivery.
• Manage and support Kubernetes environments, including Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting solutions to improve platform reliability.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployments and operational processes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve scalability, resilience and security.
• Support incident management, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical teams.
• Experience working within Agile environments is advantageous.
