Job summary

TerraGlen Residential Care Services is seeking a Deputy Social Care Manager to support the Person In Charge in running the service. You will lead a compassionate team, oversee audits and quality reporting, and ensure high standards in care and safeguarding.

The role emphasises person-centred support for service users, staff development, and maintaining regulatory compliance within a residential care setting.

Qualifications

• All candidates should have substantial supervisory experience in social care.
• Strong knowledge of HIQA standards and safeguarding policies.
• Experience managing teams and supporting service users with complex needs.
• Understanding GDPR and confidentiality in care settings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise social care staff and deputise for the Manager.
• Ensure HIQA, New Directions, and company standards are met.
• Support service users through individual plans and promote independence.
• Conduct health and safety checks, risk assessments, and safeguarding duties.
• Organise staff training and ensure mandatory training is completed.
• Engage with families, MDT and staff; chair meetings and maintain confidentiality.

Job Purpose

The Deputy Social Care Manager is required to fulfil the running of the service in support of the Person In Charge. The Deputy Social Care Manager is expected to build and maintain high standards of social work practice within the service and ultimately the organisation as a whole.

Your Role and Responsibilities

• Supervise social care staff, deputise for the Manager, lead the team in their absence, support staff through supervision, meetings, and workload management.
• Ensure services meet HIQA, New Directions, and company standards; oversee audits, inspections, administration, and quality reporting.
• Support service users through individualised plans, promote independence, integration, community involvement, and manage behaviours of concern with positive behaviour support.
• Conduct and monitor health and safety checks, risk assessments, and safeguarding responsibilities; report and record accurately.
• Organise and deliver staff training, set goals in supervision, support continuous learning, and ensure all mandatory training is completed.
• Build rapport with service users, families, MDT, and staff; chair meetings, maintain confidentiality (GDPR), follow financial procedures, and act as a role model.

What You'll Need

Qualifications requirements

• A degree in Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Youth and Community Work, Social Work, Social Sciences, Teaching or Nursing, sufficient experience with working and managing within social care sector.
• 3 years' experience of working at social care grade with children. Sufficient experience with adults with disabilities/children with disabilities/complex needs.
• A thorough knowledge of the principles and practice of social care.
• An understanding of basic management principles.

Vetting Requirement

• Successful candidates will be subject to Garda Vetting through Tusla and the National Vetting Bureau
