Job summary

TerraGlen Residential Care Services in Drogheda, Co. Louth, is hiring a Social Care Worker on a permanent, full-time basis. The role involves direct support for young people, daily activities, administration work, and household tasks within a trauma-informed team.

Requirements include a Level 7 qualification in social care (or related fields), CORU recognition, a valid driving licence, and 2 years of relevant experience. Garda Vetting is required.

Qualifications

• Level 7 qualification in Applied Social Care or related field.
• CORU-recognised Social Care Qualification.
• Full, clean manual driving licence.
• Flexibility for varied shifts, including sleepovers.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in similar settings.
• Knowledge of the principles and practice of social care.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred care and support to young people.
• Promote independence, education, and emotional well-being.
• Work collaboratively within a trauma-informed, values-driven team.
• Deliver high-quality care and assistance to residents per their care plans.
• Ensure adherence to the National Standards of Residential Child Care principles.
• Advise the Social Care Manager of any changes in the young people's needs.
• Support young people in accessing information in an appropriate format.
• Support staff and young people to be aware of all safety aspects.
• Liaise with the Social Care Manager and staff on centre issues.

Job Purpose

The Social Care Worker is expected to engage in daily activities and routines of the service that they are working in, including direct support to service users, administration work and daily household tasks required of them.

Your Role And Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred care and support to young people.
• Promote independence, education, and emotional well-being.
• Work collaboratively within a trauma-informed, values-driven team.
• Deliver high-quality care and assistance to residents as per their Individual care plans and instructions by the Centre Management.
• To ensure that the main principles of the National Standards of Residential Child Care (dignity, privacy, choice, safety, realising potential and equality and diversity) are reflected within the service provided.
• To advise the Social Care Manager of any changes in the young people's needs
• To support young people in accessing information in an appropriate format, allowing them to make informed choices.
• To support young people and staff to be aware of all aspects of safety.
• To liaise with the Social Care Manager, Deputy Social Care Manager, Social Care Leader and staff on issues relating to the centre.

What You'll Need

Qualifications and experience requirements

• A minimum Level 7, preferably in Applied Social Care OR,
• A minimum Level 7 in Nursing, Psychology, Teaching, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Social Work, Social Sciences or Youth and Community Work are qualifications that will also be considered.
• A thorough knowledge of the principles and practice of social care.
• Currently undertaking or holding a CORU-recognised Social Care Qualification
• Full, clean manual driving licence.
• Flexibility for varied shifts, including sleepovers.
• 2 years' experience in similar settings.

Vetting Requirement

• Successful candidates will be subject to Garda Vetting through Tusla and the National Vetting Bureau
