Job summary

Terra Glen is seeking a Deputy Manager for its Drogheda residential care service. You will supervise social care staff, support the Manager with policies, budgeting, health and safety, and play a key role in safeguarding and service quality.

The role requires a Social Care qualification, 3 years’ experience with children, and driving licence; Level 7 qualifications are also considered. Garda Vetting is mandatory, and opportunities for development are offered.

Qualifications

• Deputy Managers must have a Social Care qualification and 3 years' experience of working at a social care grade with children.
• Level 7 qualifications that may also be considered, along with 3 years working at a social care grade with children are: Degree in Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Youth and Community Work, Social Work, Social Sciences, Teaching or Nursing.
• Full Driving Licence is essential
• Garda Vetting through Tusla and the National Vetting Bureau

Responsibilities

• Supervise social care staff and assist the Manager with policies, procedures, and handling budget, Health and Safety, staff training, supervision, appraisal, and recruitment.
• Deputise for the Manager, overseeing operational tasks for the establishment and supporting service quality improvement within available resources.
• Ensure service users and staff are encouraged to participate in decision-making related to their care and services, and report any shortfalls to the Manager.
• Assess and supervise the preparation of reports and assessments, ensuring appropriate care practices are followed to preserve individuality and promote independence.

Job Purpose

Jointly with the Manager, to share a commitment to the philosophy and objectives of the establishment. Maintain professional standards in social care and facilitate the operation of its day-to-day functions.
