Job summary

GemPool Recruitment is seeking a Data Center Technician to join a West Dublin operations team. The role focuses on hands-on support for server, storage, and networking hardware, fault finding, and maintaining critical data center infrastructure.

You will diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues, perform health checks, and support cabling, asset management and documentation. The position requires independent work and strong teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience supporting server, storage and networking hardware.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities for complex issues.
  • Understanding of data center infrastructure, power, cooling and rack systems.
  • Experience with structured cabling, patch panels and fiber connectivity.
  • Basic to intermediate Linux and/or Windows administration.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment in data centers.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+/Server+/Network+.
  • Previous data center or enterprise IT experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot server, storage and networking hardware.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and infrastructure issues in the data center.
  • Perform system health checks and preventative maintenance.
  • Support copper and fiber optic cabling and structured cabling tasks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for supported technologies and procedures.
  • Assist with asset management and equipment tracking.
  • Act as escalation point for junior technicians.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members as needed.
  • Support remote system administration within a virtual team environment.
  • Automate routine tasks with scripting where appropriate.
  • Execute small projects independently and contribute to larger local initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with data center safety and procedures.

Salary: €32,000 per annum (pro-rata for contract duration)

About the Role

We are seeking a Data Center Technician to join a leading technology client's operations team based in West Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on IT professional with experience supporting data center infrastructure, hardware troubleshooting, and operational excellence within a fast-paced environment.

As a Data Center Technician, you will be a primary technical resolver for your support team, responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware infrastructure issues, maintaining critical systems, and supporting data center operations. You will work independently on day-to-day technical issues while collaborating with engineers and operations teams on larger projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot server, storage, and networking hardware.

  • Support structured cabling, including copper and fiber-optic infrastructure.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Hands-on experience supporting server, storage, and networking hardware.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and rack systems.
  • Experience with structured cabling, patch panels, and fiber-optic connectivity.
  • Basic to intermediate Linux and/or Windows system administration skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting equipment and working within data center spaces.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools.
  • CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, or similar certifications.
  • Previous experience in a data center, enterprise IT, or critical infrastructure environment.
  • Experience supporting remote administration tasks.
