Job summary

Tuath Housing Association is seeking a Construction Accountant to support financial management of construction and development projects. You will monitor expenditure, manage cashflows, support funding applications and provide financial analysis for project reporting.

You will collaborate with the Scheme Accountant and Finance team to assess scheme viability, deliver high-quality reporting, and contribute to robust controls across construction portfolios.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified accounting studies in progress towards ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline.
• Experience preparing reconciliations, forecasts and management reports.
• Strong Excel skills, including financial modelling and data analysis.
• Experience working with ERP/accounting systems such as Sage 200 or similar.
• Experience analysing budgets, forecasts and project costs.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform weekly reconciliations of construction projects, ensuring transactions are recorded in Sage 200.
• Review project expenditure, analyse cost centres, and prepare budget vs. actual analyses.
• Monitor construction invoices and maintain records of project payments.
• Prepare short- and long-term forecasts for construction payments and funding drawdowns.
• Support development funding streams (CALF, CREL, HFA) and other sources.
• Prepare weekly reports on Tuath reserves usage across projects.
• Review project cashflows and assess financial viability of new/existing schemes.
• Assist in funding applications and supporting documentation for new schemes.
• Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for Construction and New Business Department.
• Support month- and year-end close processes, including journals and variance analysis.
• Prepare reports for Management Accounts and scheme profitability.
• Provide financial insight into project performance and profitability with Scheme Accountant.
• Deliver financial modelling/analysis for future development opportunities.
