Job summary

Arcon Recruitment is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join a Mayo-based company. You will prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates, review drawings and specifications, and work closely with the project and commercial teams throughout the tendering process.

Qualifications

• Previous estimating experience within construction, engineering or a related sector.
• Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience preparing take-offs, cost plans and tender submissions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for construction and engineering projects.
• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.
• Complete material and labour take-offs.
• Prepare tender submissions, quotations and cost proposals.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Compare pricing and identify the most commercially suitable options.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Work with Project Managers to develop project budgets and delivery plans.
• Identify potential commercial, technical and contractual risks.
• Attend site visits, pre-tender meetings and client meetings where required.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of material, labour and subcontractor costs.
• Review completed tenders and support the handover of successful projects to the delivery team.
• Assist with procurement and purchasing where required.
• Monitor market pricing and construction cost trends.
• Maintain accurate tender records and supporting documentation.

Construction Estimator – County Mayo

Location: County Mayo
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

Arcon Recruitment is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join a growing company based in County Mayo.

The successful candidate will prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction and engineering projects. They will review drawings and specifications, obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations, and work closely with the project and commercial teams throughout the tendering process.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous estimating experience within construction, engineering or a related sector.
• Relevant qualification in quantity surveying, construction economics, engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience preparing take-offs, cost plans and tender submissions.
• Good knowledge of construction materials, labour costs and procurement.
• Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage several tenders and meet strict deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant estimating software.
• Experience within the Irish construction sector is highly desirable.
• Full Irish driving licence.
