Job summary

Arcon Recruitment Services is seeking a Commercial Manager for a Castlebar-based role in Co. Mayo. The senior position oversees commercial performance across housing, residential, social housing and commercial construction projects.

The role may suit an established Commercial Manager or a Senior Quantity Surveyor moving into a broader commercial management remit, with leadership of a QS team and growth of commercial procedures as the company expands.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline is required.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement and cost control.
• Experience in housing, residential, social housing or commercial construction is advantageous.
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the commercial management of construction projects.
• Oversee project budgets, forecasts and cost reporting.
• Manage the commercial performance of projects from tender through to final account.
• Review and negotiate contracts and subcontract agreements.
• Oversee procurement of subcontractors and key suppliers.
• Manage valuations, variations and payment applications.
• Monitor project costs, margins and commercial performance.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
• Oversee subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
• Support tendering and pre-construction activities.
• Work closely with Project Managers and Site Managers.
• Provide commercial advice and support to senior management.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Support and mentor commercial and QS team members.
• Help develop commercial procedures and controls as the company grows.

Arcon Recruitment is recruiting a Commercial Manager for an established and growing construction company based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.

This is a senior commercial position offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional to take responsibility for the commercial performance of projects and play an important role in the continued growth of the business.

The position may suit an established Commercial Manager or an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor who is ready to progress into a broader commercial management role.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline

• Previous experience in housing, residential, social housing or commercial construction would be advantageous
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement and cost control
• Excellent commercial awareness
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and commercial priorities
• Leadership and people-management capability
• Strong financial, analytical and reporting skills
