Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager for Cork to oversee commercial operations across Pharmaceutical, Life Science and Data Centre projects in Ireland and Europe. • Client Relations: Build and maintain relationships with main contractors, client representatives, and international partners.
• Executive Reporting: Provide accurate financial reporting and strategic insights to the Managing Director.

About the Role

A steadily growing specialist subcontractor based in Cork is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to oversee our commercial operations across high-profile Pharmaceutical, Life Science and Data Centre projects in Ireland and Europe. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance, managing risk, and shaping our commercial strategy while managing and developing the existing commercial team. This position offers a direct pathway to a Commercial Director role as the business continues its expansion.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop the commercial team to support business growth and delivery excellence.
• Commercial Strategy: Oversee project financial management, budget forecasting, cash flow, and final accounts across domestic and European projects.
• Contract Management: Lead contract negotiations, variations, subcontract agreements, and risk management strategies across complex developments.
• Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with main contractors, client representatives, and international partners.
• Executive Reporting: Provide accurate financial reporting, strategic advice, and operational insights directly to the Managing Director.

Requirements

• Experience: Proven track record in commercial management within the construction sector, ideally with a specialist subcontractor.
• Sector & Region Expertise: Solid experience delivering projects in the Pharmaceutical and/or Data Centre sectors, with experience in Irish and/or European markets.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage, support, and develop a commercial team.
• Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
• Location: Based in or flexible to travel from Cork, with willingness to travel to European project sites as required.
