The Opportunity

You’ll take responsibility for commercial performance across a portfolio of construction projects, working closely with the senior leadership team and playing an influential role in operational and strategic decisions.

You’ll have the autonomy to challenge existing processes, introduce improvements, develop your people and ensure that commercial considerations are central to every major decision.

Your remit will include:

• Leading and developing a team of commercial professionals, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and high performance.
• Taking ownership of commercial performance across multiple projects, from early-stage planning through to completion.
• Driving profitability through effective cost management, procurement, forecasting and risk control.
• Providing commercial insight and recommendations to senior leadership to support key business decisions.
• Overseeing major contract negotiations, subcontractor relationships and the resolution of complex commercial matters.
• Identifying opportunities to strengthen margins, improve commercial systems and deliver better project outcomes.
• Supporting tendering, project appraisals and future business growth.

Who We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with commercially astute leaders who have progressed beyond the purely technical side of quantity surveying and are ready to make an impact at a broader business level.

You may currently be a Commercial Manager, Senior Commercial Manager, Commercial Lead or Head of Commercial within a main contractor or developer.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• A strong background in quantity surveying and commercial management within construction.
• Experience overseeing several projects and managing commercial teams.
• A proven ability to protect margins, manage contractual risk and influence financial outcomes.
• Excellent negotiation skills and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders.
• A practical, decisive leadership style and the ability to get the best from your team.
• Experience in residential or mixed-use construction would be particularly attractive.
