Job summary

ConstructionJobs.ie is assisting with the recruitment of a Client-side Commercial Manager for rail orientated projects in the Cork area. The role covers from design and concept through to construction, based in Cork with a 36-hour week and a salary of €95K.

The successful candidate will oversee commercial management, budgeting, tender evaluation and negotiations, ensuring best value and auditable processes across large infrastructure contracts.

Qualifications

• Professional qualifications as a QS or Construction Economics degree.
• Minimum of 8 years relevant experience.
• Proven commercial skills on large construction projects (pre & post-contract).
• Detailed knowledge and application of the Public Works contracts.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial management support from feasibility through tender and implementation to project completion.

Client-side Commercial Manager

Our client is an infrastructure company who are seeking to engage a client-side Commercial manager for a series of rail orientated projects ( significant project values) in the Cork Area from design/concept stage through to construction.

Duties

• Providing diligent commercial management support from feasibility stage, through tender and implementation stages, to project completion.
• Effective utilisation of in-house and external resources
• Responsible for schedule, budget, and integration management of the programme.
• Preparation of contract documents
• Prepare project budget cost estimates and detailed cost plans and undertake regular reviews and provide updates as required.
• Collaborate with the internal and external design teams to provide commercial advice in respect of design decisions.
• Review tender documentation prior to issue and, in particular, advise on completeness of employer's design information.
• Support or, where requested, lead the tender evaluation process and prepare tender evaluation reports.
• On award of contract, draft and issue the relevant contract documentation to the successful bidder.
• Evaluate contractor's payment applications and prepare payment certificates for approval by the relevant project manager.
• Undertake proactive cost monitoring on all projects.
• Evaluate and assist in the negotiation of delay/disruption and other claims.
• Prepare Final Account including adjustment for variations/claims etc.
• In conjunction with the Project Manager lead Final Account negotiations with Contractor to ensure that all settlements reached deliver best value for money, are fully auditable and are in line with the contract provisions.

Requirements

• Demonstrable ability to manage and administer construction contracts.
