Job summary

GCS in Dublin seeks an experienced Cloud Architect to join our specialist Cloud Services team. The role focuses on cloud architecture, multi-cloud environments, interoperability, cloud switching and technical assessment.

You will provide technical expertise on complex cloud investigations, support development of technical resources and guide Cloud Engineers on architecture, testing and compliance. Strong hands-on Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, multi-cloud connectivity, migration and infrastructure

Qualifications

  • 3+ years hands-on experience in Cloud Architecture or Cloud Engineering.
  • Third-level qualification in Cloud Services, Cloud Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery and Anthos.
  • Experience across multi-cloud environments and cross-cloud connectivity.
  • Deep expertise in Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience with cloud interoperability, portability and switching.
  • Familiarity with OpenCloud standards and technologies such as CDMI and OAuth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise on cloud services, including investigations, customer issues, disputes and policy-related work.
  • Support the implementation of technical resources for cloud service assessment, testing, analysis and evidence handling.
  • Investigate cloud service providers' compliance with interoperability and switching requirements.
  • Review technical documentation and testing performed by Cloud Engineers and provide expert opinions.
  • Assess cloud interoperability, portability, switching processes and related requirements.
  • Assist with assessing switching charges and data egress costs.
  • Analyse cloud architectures, technical evidence and data flows across providers.
  • Contribute to technical reports and documentation for internal and external audiences.
  • Engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear documentation.
  • Provide guidance and support to Cloud Engineers on architecture and testing.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to join a specialist Cloud Services team in Dublin.

The role will focus on cloud architecture, multi-cloud environments, interoperability, cloud switching and technical assessment. You will provide technical expertise on complex cloud-related investigations, support the development of technical resources and guide Cloud Engineers on architecture, testing and compliance-related matters.

This is a highly technical role requiring strong hands-on experience across Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, multi-cloud connectivity, cloud migration and infrastructure automation, combined with strong analytical, documentation and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise on cloud services, including technical investigations, customer complaints, disputes and policy-related work.
  • Support the implementation of technical resources for cloud service assessment, testing, analysis and evidence handling.
  • Investigate cloud service providers' compliance with interoperability and switching requirements.
  • Review technical documentation and testing performed by Cloud Engineers and provide expert technical opinions.
  • Assess cloud interoperability, portability, switching processes and associated technical requirements.
  • Assist with the assessment of switching charges and data egress charges.
  • Analyse cloud architectures, technical evidence and data flows across different cloud service providers.
  • Contribute to technical reports, briefing papers and documentation for internal and external audiences.
  • Engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, structured and evidence-based documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Cloud Engineers working on cloud architecture and testing activities.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Cloud Architecture or Cloud Engineering.
  • Third-level qualification in Cloud Services, Cloud Engineering, Computer Science or a directly relevant discipline.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly:
  • Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including:
  • BigQuery
  • Google Anthos
  • Strong experience working across multi-cloud environments.
  • Experience with cross-cloud connectivity and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Experience executing workload and data migrations between cloud providers.
  • Deep expertise in Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience with cross-cloud management platforms such as Azure Arc or Google Anthos.
  • Strong proficiency with Terraform or OpenTofu.
  • Strong understanding of cloud storage, databases and data replication across cloud boundaries.
  • Advanced understanding of hybrid cloud networking, including:
  • VPN
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of APIs and data formats including JSON and GraphQL.
  • Familiarity with open-source cloud technologies such as OpenStack.
  • Familiarity with open cloud standards and technologies such as CDMI and OAuth.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
  • Experience within a regulated industry or regulatory environment.
  • Experience with cloud interoperability, portability and switching.
  • Experience assessing cloud data transfer or egress costs.
  • Knowledge of heterogeneous compute environments, accelerators and custom platforms.
  • Experience supporting AI and accelerated-compute workloads.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, investigation findings, briefing papers or policy documents.
