We are looking for an experienced Claims Handler to join a busy and customer-focused insurance claims team.
In this role, you will manage motor damage claims from initial notification through to final settlement, ensuring claims are handled efficiently, fairly and in line with company procedures, regulatory requirements and agreed service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage claims from first notification through to closure, within agreed authority limits, SLAs and service standards.
- Investigate, assess, negotiate and settle claims efficiently and cost-effectively, balancing the needs of the customer with the interests of the business.
- Assess policy indemnity and liability and manage claims through to satisfactory conclusion.
- Establish and maintain appropriate claims reserves in accordance with prudent reserving guidelines.
- Authorise claims payments within agreed financial authority levels.
- Provide clear and professional guidance to customers and other stakeholders on the claims process and next steps.
- Handle telephone, email and written correspondence from policyholders, representatives, brokers, solicitors, loss adjusters, service providers and other interested parties.
- Deliver an excellent, empathetic and professional customer experience throughout the claims journey.
- Capture comprehensive and accurate information at every stage of the claim.
- Identify and appropriately escalated potential fraud indicators, exaggerated claims or other concerns to the relevant internal investigation or fraud teams.
- Challenge third-party and service provider recommendations where appropriate and make independent, evidence-based decisions.
- Proactively gather information, investigate claims and identify opportunities to achieve fair and cost-effective settlements.
- Contribute to improvements in the first notification of loss (FNOL) and wider claims handling processes.
- Support management with workflow monitoring, caseload management, task allocation and the distribution of new claims where required.
- Act as a knowledgeable point of contact and provide support to colleagues within the wider claims team.
- Work proactively to achieve individual and team objectives and performance targets.
- Participate in projects, process improvement initiatives and training activities as required.

- You will be expected to maintain a strong understanding of the regulatory requirements relevant to claims handling and ensure all activity is compliant with applicable legislation, regulatory standards and company policies, including:
- Consumer protection requirements
- Data protection and information security requirements
- Internal claims handling procedures and governance standards
About You
We're looking for someone with hands-on claims handling experience, ideally with at least two years' experience managing motor damage claims.
You will be confident making decisions within delegated authority, negotiating settlements and managing claims independently while knowing when to seek additional support or escalated an issue.

Qualifications
Candidates will ideally hold a Certificate in Insurance (CIP) or equivalent qualification, although relevant claims experience and technical knowledge will also be considered.
