Job summary

Ward & Burke Construction Limited in Kilcolgan, Co. Galway, Ireland, is seeking a Civil/Structural Design Engineer with a minimum of three years’ post-graduate experience to join our Design Office.

You will contribute to large-scale civil infrastructure projects across water, wastewater, energy, utilities, and geotechnical domains, delivering solutions from concept through construction. The role involves design, calculations, reports, and drawings, with a focus on Eurocodes and industry

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ post-graduate experience in civil infrastructure design.
• Experience delivering projects within utility, water, wastewater or energy sectors.
• Proficiency in Eurocodes and current Irish/UK design standards.
• Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Scia Engineer and CADS Geotechnical; Plaxis advantageous.
• Full driving licence, where required for the role.

Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed civil, structural and geotechnical design for utility infrastructure projects.
• Produce engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications and design drawings.
• Carry out structural analysis and design in accordance with Eurocodes and industry standards.
• Coordinate with internal multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, electrical and construction personnel.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities, subcontractors and external consultants.
• Attend design review meetings and contribute to value engineering initiatives.
• Ensure design outputs are delivered in line with programme, budget and quality requirements.
