Job summary

Ward & Burke is seeking a CAD/BIM Technician to join our Head Office team in Kilcolgan, Galway. This role will involve producing accurate CAD drawings, BIM models and project documentation for civil infrastructure projects, with a focus on water and wastewater treatment works.

You will work with engineers, architects and surveyors to coordinate information, support clash detection with Navisworks, and ensure BIM protocols, including ISO 19650, are followed.

Qualifications

• Third-level qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, BIM, CAD or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a CAD/BIM role.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit.
• Understanding of engineering drawings, design coordination and document control.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D BIM models for civil projects, incl. water/wastewater works.
• Develop drawings from sketches, calculations, surveys and design briefs.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, surveyors and project teams on design requirements.

About the Role

Ward & Burke is seeking a CAD/BIM Technician to join our Head Office team in Kilcolgan, Galway. This role will suit someone who enjoys detailed technical work, practical problem-solving and working as part of a collaborative engineering team.

You will help produce accurate CAD drawings, BIM models and project documentation for civil engineering and infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on water and wastewater treatment works.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D BIM models for civil engineering projects, including reinforced concrete structures, mechanical and electrical fit-out, and water and wastewater treatment works.
• Develop drawings and models from sketches, engineering calculations, survey information and design briefs.
• Work closely with engineers, architects, surveyors and project teams to understand design requirements and coordinate information.
• Support clash detection and model coordination using tools such as Autodesk Navisworks.
• Follow relevant project standards, BIM protocols, health and safety requirements and internal quality procedures.
• Maintain organised design files, drawing registers, revisions and archives.
• Assist with project documentation, quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities where required.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Relevant third-level qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, BIM, CAD or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar CAD/BIM role.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings, design coordination and document control.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and managing deadlines.
• Experience with Civil 3D and Autodesk Navisworks.
• Experience on water, wastewater, utility or heavy civils projects.
• Knowledge of BIM protocols such as ISO 19650.
