Job summary

Version 1 is seeking a Head of Procurement to establish and lead a best-in-class procurement function within our IT Services and Consulting business. Reporting to the CFO, you will set policy, build supplier relationships, and design the procurement operating model from the ground up.

You will drive cost savings, governance, and risk management across external spend, own the contract lifecycle, and lead a high-performing team that partners with executives and business units.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years’ procurement experience, with at least 3 years managing a function
• MCIPS qualified (or working towards), or equivalent recognised procurement qualification; IIPMM membership an advantage for the Irish market
• Experience in a Technology Consulting, Professional Services, Resale or high-growth environment
• Proven experience building or transforming a procurement function
• Strong track record of delivering cost savings and commercial value
• Experience across indirect spend categories: professionals, IT/software, contractors, facilities, services

Responsibilities

• Define and implement the procurement strategy aligned to business growth plans
• Establish procurement policies, governance frameworks, and controls
• Design and embed the procurement operating model, including category management and sourcing approach
• Build the procurement roadmap, including systems, processes, and capability development
• Lead, develop and performance-manage the team
• Report directly to CFO and hold a seat at relevant leadership discussions
• Drive and coordinate the delivery of agreed annual cost saving targets
• Identify value opportunities across major spend categories (IT, software, contractors, facilities, services)
• Track and report savings delivery with robust methodologies
• Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) optimisation across supplier base
• Own end-to-end Procure-to-Pay process and drive compliance across units
• Enforce policy compliance and review controls
• Manage approval thresholds and audit mechanisms
• Work with Finance to align procurement with financial controls
• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for high-value spend
• Develop category strategies and run competitive tenders
• Support stakeholder decisions in supplier selection
• Liaise with Software Asset Management for licensing cost savings
• Own contracts from inception to renewal; ensure compliance and standard terms
• Implement contract management with SLA/KPI tracking and reviews
• Maintain a central contract repository and governance forums
• Manage supplier risk and performance reporting
• Mitigate supplier risk with due diligence and governance
• Keep awareness of Irish and EU procurement regulations
