Job description

Pearse Portfolio is leading a confidential search for a Strategic CFO within an established infrastructure business in Ireland.

About the Role

This is a senior finance leadership position for an individual who combines strong financial expertise with commercial judgement and a broader view of the business.

The CFO will work closely with the CEO and wider leadership team, helping shape business priorities, challenge thinking and turn strategic decisions into tangible outcomes.

The role will suit a senior finance leader who is comfortable operating across both strategy and execution, with the influence and credibility to contribute beyond Finance and play a meaningful role in shaping the direction of the wider business.

Scope

The role will span a broad range of strategic and commercial priorities, including:

  • Acting as a key adviser to the CEO and executive team on business performance and strategic priorities
  • Challenging assumptions and bringing a clear financial and commercial perspective to major decisions
  • Helping shape business plans, investment priorities and capital allocation
  • Assessing strategic opportunities, including acquisitions and other corporate development activity
  • Identifying and delivering opportunities to improve profitability, productivity and cost performance
  • Strengthening financial insight and using performance data to support better business decisions
  • Supporting major change, transformation and growth initiatives from strategy through to implementation
  • Engaging with the Board and senior stakeholders on performance, priorities and longer-term direction
  • Leading and developing the Finance function while maintaining a strong focus on the wider business
Requirements & Profile

We are looking for a senior finance leader with the credibility and breadth to operate at enterprise level.

The strongest candidates are likely to bring:

  • Previous CFO, Finance Director, Divisional CFO, VP Finance or equivalent experience
  • A track record of influencing business strategy and senior decision‑making beyond Finance
  • Experience leading significant transformation, cost improvement, performance enhancement or change programmes
  • Strong commercial judgement and an ability to understand the operational drivers of a business
  • The confidence and credibility to constructively challenge CEOs, Boards and senior stakeholders
  • A pragmatic leadership style, with the ability to combine strategic thinking with hands‑on execution
  • Experience in infrastructure, technology, energy, utilities or another complex, capital‑intensive environment would be advantageous
  • A background in M&A, investment banking, corporate finance or transactions would be welcome, particularly where this has been combined with meaningful operating and finance leadership experience

Above all, the role requires someone who can think beyond the Finance function, influence the wider organisation and take ownership of business outcomes.

This is a confidential search. Further information will be shared selectively with relevant candidates under an NDA.
