Excel Recruitment is seeking a capable Catering Assistant for Newcastle West, Republic of Ireland, on a temporary basis. The role supports catering operations across the Newcastle West region, focusing on customer service, cash handling, and maintaining service areas.

Catering Assistant – Newcastle West

We are currently recruiting a capable and dependable Catering Assistant to support catering operations across the Newcastle West region on a temporary basis. This position suits someone with previous food-service experience who can adapt quickly, work independently when required, and maintain high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate tills and process customer payments accurately
• Provide friendly, efficient service to customers
• Prepare, set up, and maintain service and dining areas
• Ensure all equipment and workspaces are kept clean, tidy, and hygienic
• Adhere to all food safety, HACCP, and health & safety procedures
• Take ownership of assigned duties to ensure service runs smoothly

Requirements

• Previous experience in a catering or food-service environment
• Confidence using tills and dealing with customers
• Barista or coffee-making experience an advantage
• Ability to work independently and use initiative
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
• HACCP and Manual Handling certification required (training can be facilitated)
• Reliable, punctual, and professionally presented
• Flexibility to take on temporary and short-term shifts
