Job summary

Planet is seeking a Capacity & Performance Lead to own capacity and performance management for its payments platform. You will forecast demand, govern resource headroom, and ensure platform performance meets SLO targets as transaction volumes grow.

You will build capacity models, define baselines, and collaborate with engineering on scaling strategies. The role offers a hybrid work model and a focus on cost-performance trade-offs in a high-volume fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in capacity management, performance engineering or infra planning.
• Experience modelling demand and translating growth into capacity requirements.
• Strong understanding of cloud scaling patterns (AWS/Azure/GCP) and on-prem capacity planning.
• Familiarity with monitoring/APM data (Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch).

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end capacity and performance management including forecasting and governance.

• Define baselines and thresholds; trigger proactive right-sizing.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Capacity & Performance Lead to own capacity and performance management for Planet’s payments platform. You will forecast demand, govern resource headroom, and ensure platform performance meets SLO targets as transaction volumes grow.

What you will do

• Own the capacity and performance management practice end-to-end: demand forecasting, threshold governance, and remediation planning.
• Build capacity models for critical payment services; translate business growth forecasts into infrastructure and platform requirements.
• Define and govern performance baselines and thresholds; trigger proactive right-sizing before customers feel the pain.
• Partner with engineering and cloud platform teams on scaling strategies, auto-scaling policies and cost-performance trade-offs.
• Run capacity reviews as part of the monthly service governance cycle; report headroom and risk to leadership.
• Feed capacity insights into change risk assessment and service transition readiness reviews.

Who you are

• 5+ years in capacity management, performance engineering or infrastructure planning in high-volume transactional environments.
• Experience modelling demand and translating business growth into infrastructure capacity requirements.
• Strong understanding of cloud scaling patterns (AWS/Azure/GCP) alongside traditional on-prem capacity planning.
• Comfortable with monitoring and APM data (Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch or similar) for performance analysis.
• ITIL certified preferred; payments or fintech experience a strong plus.
