Job summary

Bláth cafe at The Heritage in Killenard, Co. Laois, Ireland, opens soon and seeks a Cafe Assistant who loves hospitality. You will greet guests, prepare coffee, assist with food, maintain clean spaces, and help ensure a welcoming, high-quality experience.

Experience in a café or barista skills are desirable; you should be flexible to work weekends and holidays, and enjoy teamwork. The Heritage offers meals on duty, staff discounts, and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a café, coffee shop or similar food and beverage environment is desirable.
• Barista experience is an advantage, with a willingness to learn and develop coffee-making skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• A friendly, positive attitude and a genuine passion for hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests warmly and provide friendly, efficient and professional service.
• Prepare and serve quality coffee and other beverages, ensuring consistently high standards.
• Assist with food preparation and the presentation and service of wholesome food.
• Maintain excellent cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards throughout the café.
• Ensure counters, equipment, service areas and guest seating areas are clean, tidy and well presented.
• Assist with daily opening and closing procedures to ensure the café is ready for service.
• Replenish stock and supplies, keeping service areas organised and well maintained.
• Respond to guest queries and requests promptly and professionally.
• Work closely with the Cafe Supervisor and wider team to ensure the smooth running of daily operations.
• Follow all company procedures and contribute to a positive, welcoming atmosphere for guests and colleagues.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Cafe Assistant to join our team and play an important role in the successful opening and day-to-day running of Bláth.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for hospitality who enjoys working with people, takes pride in delivering excellent service and wants to be part of something new.

As a Cafe Assistant, you will support the daily operations of the café, ensuring our guests receive a warm welcome and consistently excellent service. From preparing and serving quality coffee to assisting with food preparation and maintaining a clean, inviting environment, you will help create the experience that makes Bláth special.

Bláth will open seven days a week, from early morning to late afternoon. Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays is required.
