Job summary

The Heritage in Killenard, Co. Laois, Ireland, is seeking an experienced Host to join our luxury hotel and spa team. This on-site role requires a passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences in a fast-paced setting.

You will warmly welcome guests, manage waiting lists, handle reservations by phone, email, or in person, and communicate menu details clearly to guests. A welcoming, professional demeanor is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in Food and Beverage hospitality is preferred.
• Ability to manage peak times with professionalism.
• Strong guest-service orientation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and greet guests upon arrival, creating a warm first impression.
• Maintain an accurate waiting list during busy service periods.
• Manage restaurant reservations in person, by phone and via email.
• Respond to guest inquiries promptly with accurate information and courtesy.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the menu and ingredients.
• Communicate menu items clearly to guests and explain preparation methods.
• Allocate seating to balance workload and ensure smooth service.
• Assist with other restaurant roles when needed.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Host to join our team at The Heritage! This role would suit a passionate Food and Beverage professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment while ensuring the highest level of guest service is delivered.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Welcome and greet guests upon arrival, ensuring a warm, professional first impression.
• Manage and maintain an accurate waiting list during busy service periods, keeping guests informed of anticipated waiting times.
• Handle and coordinate restaurant reservations efficiently, both in person, over the telephone and via email.
• Respond to guest enquiries promptly and professionally across in-person, telephone and email communications, providing accurate information and a high standard of customer service.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the menu.
• Communicate menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods accurately and confidently to guests.
• Manage guest seating efficiently by allocating guests evenly across designated sections to ensure a balanced workload and a smooth service experience for both guests and team members.
• Comfortable assisting with any other role within the restaurant when necessary.
