Job summary

Fastnet in Cork is recruiting an Operational Excellence 6S Specialist for a hands-on, 12-month contract in a growing biopharma laboratory. You will lead the implementation, standardisation and embedding of 6S across lab operations.

You will work with scientists, engineers, EHS and facilities to deliver safe, compliant and well-organised environments, run audits, deliver 6S training, and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in regulated environments, ideally biopharma or medical devices.
• Experience implementing 5S/6S in labs or manufacturing settings.
• Strong collaboration and communication within cross-functional teams.

Operational Excellence 6S Specialist | Biopharma | Cork | 12-Month Contract

We’re supporting a leading biopharma organisation in Cork with the appointment of an Operational Excellence 6S Specialist for an initial 12-month contract.

This is a hands-on role supporting an expanding laboratory environment, with responsibility for implementing, standardising and embedding 6S principles across laboratory operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with scientists, engineers, EHS, Facilities and operational leadership to create safe, compliant, efficient and well-organised laboratory environments.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the implementation and ongoing sustainability of 6S across laboratory areas
• Coordinating the overall 6S programme and workplace assessments
• Developing visual workplace standards and supporting consistent adoption
• Conducting audits and tracking improvement actions through to completion
• Delivering 6S training, coaching and practical support to laboratory teams
• Supporting continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives
• Monitoring progress and reporting on 6S performance
• Working cross-functionally to embed 6S into everyday working practices

We’re looking for someone with:

• Experience working within a regulated operational environment, ideally biopharma, pharmaceutical, medical device or a similar setting
• Practical experience implementing 5S or 6S
• Strong continuous improvement / Operational Excellence capability
• Experience facilitating workshops, training or improvement activities
• Strong change-management and stakeholder engagement skills
• The ability to influence and engage teams across different functions

This would suit someone who enjoys being hands-on and visible within an operational environment, working directly with teams to make practical improvements that strengthen safety, organisation and operational flow.
