Business Data Analyst
Dublin / Hybrid - €500 per day

Global Retailer requires a BA / Data Analyst for an initial 6 month day rate contract.
Business Engagement
- Act as a trusted partner to business stakeholders across all our teams.
- Lead discovery sessions and workshops to surface business questions, challenges, and opportunities.
- Translate business needs into clear data use cases, metrics, and meaningful data & insight requirements.
- Document business meaning, context, and definitions to support consistent understanding of data across the organisation.
Data Engineering Requirements & Delivery
- Convert business requirements into detailed technical specifications, including source-to-tagpet mappings, data transformations, and logic definitions.
- Work closely with Data Engineers to shape data pipeline, integration, and modelling requirements.
- Support Agile delivery processes including backlog refinement, sprint planning, prioritisation, and acceptance criteria definition.
Data Quality, Definitions & Governance
- Define and maintain business metric and KPI definitions to ensure clarity and consistency.
- Establish data quality rules, validation criteria, and operational checks in collaboration with business and engineering teams.
- Champion data stewardship, metadata documentation, and governance best practices across domains.
Analytics Enablement & Reporting Support
- Partner with BI and analytics teams to validate that dashboards and data products meet business needs.
- Support UAT, data validation, and troubleshooting of new datasets, models, and pipelines.
- Enable self-service analytics by improving the accessibility, usability, and clarity of data assets.
Continuous Improvement & Value Realisation
- Proactively identify new data opportunities that support revenue growth, cost efficiency, and enhanced experience.
- Recommend improvements to requirements processes, data product lifecycle, documentation, and testing practices.
- Contribute to the development of a scalable, modern data environment through consistent standards and re-usable assets.

- You will work closely with Data Engineering team, Finance, Commercial, Operations, IT & Group commercial teams.

Qualifications, knowledge, and experience
Essential
- 5+ years' experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst
- Highly influential, pood communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.
- Proven ability to translate complex business issues into clear technical requirements.
- Hands-on experience working with Agile delivery methodologies.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and third-party suppliers to deliver data solutions.
Desirable
- Exposure to modern cloud data platforms (e.p., Snowflake, BipQuery, Databricks, Azure/AWS).
- Understanding of data governance, master data management, and data quality frameworks.
- Experience supporting analytics, advanced analytics, or machine-learning initiatives.
- Ability to use SQL to validate data or perform basic exploratory analysis.
- Familiarity with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
